Within Adult Social Care we strive to deliver the County Council ambitions associated with our legislatory duties in arranging social care and support services for vulnerable and older people and their families with eligible needs; and facilitating ‘protection’ when needed, e.g. Safeguarding and mental health related responsibilities. As a service we follow strengths based practice, in order to maximise our customer’s independence and capability.
Our strength based ethos extends to both our customers and our staff, and with our learning and development offer, we aim to complement our staff’s strengths by offering a range of practical learning opportunities for staff to enhance knowledge and skills.
We value our staff as our greatest strength and want to enable staff to have access to the learning and development they need for their current role and for them to progress their careers.
Denise Cross is your Learning and Development Lead for Adult Social Care and our Principal Social Worker, Ian Redfern will lead on our Social Work Career Pathway.
Each year, your appraisal is a great opportunity for you to discuss your learning needs with your manager. Managers collate these learning needs in order to develop a Service Learning and Development Plan.
We have developed a matrix which summarises the learning and development requirements of roles within the service. The training requirements are divided into several categories which are separated into sections of this catalogue.
You will find details of the Corporate Induction and Health and Safety Programmes identified in the matrix in the respective sections of this catalogue.
